WatAdventure Kids Privacy Policy

The data we collect on WatAdventure Kids

We do not collect any personal data, knowingly or deliberately, on the WatAdventure Kids platform.

We do collect non-personal information about users when they are on our platform to allow us to understand the way our platform is being used and make our service better.

This non-personal data is provided to us by Google Analytics, and a user may opt-in to this non-personal data collection simply by accepting the cookie request when first visiting the site. Also, they may opt-out of this non-personal data collection simply by declining the cookies request.

The types of non-personal data collected for us by Google Analytics includes:

Number of users

Frequency of a user’s visit

The geographic location of a user

The amount of time a user spends on our platform

The pages a user visits

The browser the user is using

The type of device the user is using

The operating system the user is using

In collecting this non-personal data, we are also collecting user’s IP addresses. These IP addresses are collected solely for the internal support of our platform, and they are stored on an encrypted server and we have set in place restrictions to prevent this data from being accessed inappropriately. All IP addresses are deleted periodically.

2. Creating a WatAdventurer Account

We allow users to create an account on WatAdventure Kids - known as a WatAdventurer account - to allow them to enjoy a better experience on our platform.

By creating an account, a user can:

Save their WatAdventurer avatar for the next time they visit Save their wardrobe creations (digital artwork) Digitally sign any petitions Save their progress on quizzes and games Submit articles, stories and ideas to the platform. Receive direct messages from WatAdventurer administrators regarding article submissions, competitions.

In order to create a WatAdventurer account, a user must enter an anonymous username, a password and a recovery email address (this is optional).

WatAdventure Kids cannot identify any individuals provided they use an anonymous username. All passwords created are encrypted and any account-recovery email addresses inputted are encrypted also through hashing.

WatAdventure Kids does not request any personal information when an account holder submits and article, story or idea via our internal submission portal. When communicating with account holders, WatAdventure Kids will only do so in order to respond to a submission request or query.

If WatAdventure Kids requires parental permission from an account holder, it will ask a parent / guardian to contact and take appropriate steps to verify parental consent. No email address or contact details will be stored in these circumstances for any time longer than is required to establish parental consent.

3. What we do with your information.

WatAdventure Kids uses your information for the following legitimate interests:

To understand how users engage with the site, which content they access and how they use it in order to provide a better service overall. To provide a platform for users, including understand the number of users our service must provide for, ensure that our service is stable and secure. To defend our legal rights, protect ourselves from security threats and enforce our terms and conditions when necessary.

4. What information we share to third parties and why.

We only share information to third parties on the following basis:

Because we have attained your (or your parent / guardian’s) consent. Legitimate business interests - to allow us to provide the services we require as a business. Because we are legally obliged to in order to comply with the law, a legal request, a government request. To prevent fraud and protect our vital business interests, to protect ourselves from threats, to protect users from threats.

Do Not Track requests

WatAdventure Kids does not currently have the facility to respond to DNT (Do Not Track) requests from a user’s browser.

5. How long do we keep your information.

WatAdventure Kids will store information for as long as we need in order to fulfill the above: specifically to provide our service, improve our site and to fulfill legal obligations when necessary.

WatAdventure Kids will store your information for a reasonable period after you have stopped using it in case your return to the site again.

We will store information and correspondence with you for as long as is necessary to resolve a legal complaint, issue with our service or any other ongoing correspondence.

When we no longer need information, we will delete it.

In certain regions (like the European Economic Area) you may have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These rights may include:

8. Sale of Business

In the event of a sale or change of ownership or control of the business, any personal information collected under these terms may be transferred to the control of any new owner.

9. Links to 3rd party websites

On WatAdventure Kids, we may post links to third party websites where necessary. Once a user clicks the link, they will no longer be covered by this privacy policy. We recommend that users read the privacy policy of any new website they visit.

10. California Residents Privacy Rights.

Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (AKA “Shine The Light” law), California residents are entitled, once a year and free of charge, to request from us any categories of personal information, if any, we collect and pass to third parties for their direct marketing services in the twelve months prior to the request.
